Farewell

to Krispy Kreme donuts :( I'll miss you!
(I tried to upload their logo to my post but for some reason the image upload thing won't work).
Guess it's back to Shipleys. Or something... *sigh*

In other matters, did you know you can get injured flying a kite? (And I'm not talking about by being stupid and flying one during a lightning storm). On Saturday I was flying a kite with some friends and family, and the wind was so strong that the string got wrapped around my ring finger, and then because my of my ring I was not able to get the string off and it squeezed my finger so tight I lost complete circulation and got a bit of a rope burn as well. For a few seconds I seriously thought I was going to lose my finger, until my dad came running over to help. 2 days later and I still have no feeling in the tip of my finger! Who knew...

Why does God hide his face from me?

Why does he crush my heart's desire?

Will he never lift me out of this pit?

Attack of the Flies!

Between the two of us, Adam and I killed at least 25 flies in our house last night. And this morning when I woke up, I saw yet another one. Where did they all come from?? And why did they all come out at the same time?? All we did was go out for a simple walk, and when we got home, they attacked us in the kitchen! And they were HUGE flies, too. Quite disgusting. They weren’t all too bright, though – one of them committed suicide by flying straight into the ceiling fan.

After killing 10 or 15 of them, Adam gave up and went into the study to do some blogging or something. I sat down on the couch in the living room to do some reading, thinking we had gotten rid of all the flies. Nope! I spent at least 30 minutes following this routine: sit down to read, get comfortable (I like to surround myself with couch pillows and blankets ;) ) pick up my book, read maybe two sentences, and then shoo a fly out of my face. Get up, grab the fly swatter, search for the fly, maybe even try to swat it, miss it. The fly goes into hiding, I give up, sit back down to read, get comfortable, pick up my book, read two sentences, then have to get right back up again, etc etc. They were taunting me – and I bet they were enjoying it, too!

Finally we killed all of them (or so we thought) and then Adam graciously cleaned up the floors from all the dead flies as it was no fun walking through a graveyard of flies.

Not my favorite way to spend an evening! Though I’ll take flies over roaches any day.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick
